February  17th

Hello all, it has been a long winter. These conditions can make fishing tough, but can also make for some of the most scenic and secluded experiences on the river. The fishing can be a challenge, but you never know what can happen. This past weekend was the perfect example. We did not see another angler Saturday or Sunday.  A small northern river yielded one of the most scenic trips in recent memory and the first 20 inch brown of the season. Sunday was a perfect float on the PM two steelhead other opportunities and some beautiful browns in the mix. Looking forward to more days on the river and more beautiful chrome fish!

Wow! Fishing was great on the PM today. Had the opportunity to fish with a good friend and good fisherman Steve B. The trout were more then willing to take our flies and when you found one you usually found a few more. A number of steelhead hooked, but only one made it in front of the camera. That is what happens when you leave the net at home. The water had a good stain and although a little chilly it was worth it. We did not see one other angler and fished from 10 – 4. Eggs were by far the most productive fly for us.

Well fishing has been good what more can one ask for. Fished the PM on a Saturday and as expected pressure was high. Managed to land one nice hen and really had some great trout action. Many nice trout landed throughout the day. James pulled a beauty of a brown from a nice run.

Had a great day with Pat and Mike on the Rogue. The bite seemed to be off, but managed some hook ups and a nice hen to the net. Great work guys!
The Hex Hatch is on!!!!!!  Pete and I both landed big Brown's last night and had opportunities at several others.

Salmon season is here!  Fishing has been good and will continue to get better as the kings out on the big lake begin to migrate into the river in larger quantities.  We have had several successful outings so far this season throwing stickbaits and spinners in the lower river.  This will be our preferred method of fishing for the next couple of weeks.  It's tough to beat the aggressiveness of these fish as they pound hardware and destroy drags.

Fished the lower river Friday evening and had some success.  Fishing is still a little slow but we managed to land 1 king, have a few other chases to the boat and we saw some fish moving upstream.  Congratulations Matt on hooking and landing your 1st Pere Marquette River King Salmon.

The weather has been great but we are in need of some rain and that will improve the fishing tremendously.

Fishing has improved as more fish are moving through the river system right now.  We had lots of action Friday evening and Saturday morning fishing the lower river.  Thundersticks are still the hot bait of choice for us as fresh kings continue to move upstream.

Fising the lower river below Custer has been productive all week and lots of fish are spread throughout the entire river system right now.  The river is still low and clear which is making it for some tough fishing but if you cover enough water the opportunities are there!
